Tonight I was ready to give up ministry & comedy. I have been wresting with financial paper work that I have to do yearly for the ministry. It was so confusing that I was about to bang my head against the wall. I figured I'd give up ministry and might as well give up comedy and go off the grid. Nothing was working out, and I've had a cold all week. Bleeeh!!!
Then I had a bit of a breakthrough with my reports and I decided to eat some supper. I turned on my Pandora Radio to a Brian Regan routine about pirates. I've heard it before but it is still hilarious! I laughed out loud and then realized that I had a dream about pirates last night.
Here's the dream:
"Long John Silver and other Pirates were in the hold of a ship filled with water up to their waist. Then they practiced shooting their pistols and rifles. Long John yelled at one of the guys and said, 'Matey, don't get the powder wet.' In other words, keep the gun powder dry."
Then I realized what the dream meant.
Long John- My name is John which means "Jehovah has graced."
Silver- money, I was all upset about money issues.
Water up to waist- the floods of life threatened to drown me with the sorrows of money (1 Timothy 6:9)
Pistols and rifles- prophetic words, comedy words with power
gun powder- fiery passion in ministry
God was using comedy and a comedian to tell me to not to let financial troubles steal, like a pirate steals bounty, my joy and fire in ministry. God's grace is sufficient to take me through these difficulties.
So I'll keep preaching fiery funny sermons despite the difficulties. Arrrggghhhhh! Ship Ahoy!!!
